**4/19/2013** The telecommunications and data links have been restored.
**4/18/2013** A lightning strike has taken down our telecommunications and data links to both elementary schools. Phone service and network access to Granville Wells and Thorntown Elementary is currently unavailable. We have rerouted the phones and now have building personnel answering phone calls and relaying messages back the buildings. However, the teachers and staff in the two elementary schools are unable to receive emails or voice messages directly at this time.
Because our links are on aerial towers, the weather made it impossible to take corrective action today. We are scheduled to have the links repaired tomorrow, with the work beginning first thing in the morning, should the weather cooperate.
At this time, please call the school's phone number if you have important or time sensitive information. Do not rely on email until our communications have been restored. All emails and voice messages sent will be received once access is restored; however, we do not know yet when that will be.
Thank you for your understanding!
Western Boone County Community School Corporation is proud to have earned all A’s from the Indiana Department of Education! Granville Wells Elementary, Thorntown Elementary, and Western Boone Jr./Sr. High each earned an A for their most recent academic performance for the 2011-2012 school year.
“On behalf of the board, I thank our staff and students because they are the ones who got in there, rolled up their sleeves, and worked hard to achieve this goal.”
–Dr. Judi Hendrix
Indiana Department of Education recently adopted a more comprehensive formula for measuring and reporting school performance. The revised A through F grading system is designed to provide a clear assessment of how Indiana schools are performing. Letter grades are calculated based on data collected throughout each school year. These grades take into account a variety of factors, namely student performance and student growth.
Additional information about the A-F grading system can be found here. The A-F Overview Document and other resources created by the Indiana Department of Education will provide explanation of the school grading formula and can help answer questions about our schools’ grade standings.
If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact Tricia Reed, Western Boone Curriculum Director, at (765) 482-6333. Thank you for your continued support of your child’s education.
