Western Boone
Education Foundation

What Is It?

The Western Boone Education Foundation is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization created in November of 1999.  It is managed by an executive director and twelve volunteer board members from our townships. The foundation seeks to:
  • promote community support for local education;
  • create beneficial school-business partnerships;
  • provide funds for deserving educational programs.

The Foundation Board is presently seeking funds to make these goals a reality.  All money received will be invested and professionally managed to insure adequate growth of principal.  Using interest accumulated from these funds, the foundation will carry out donor wishes and make grants available for deserving projects and student scholarships.

Over $60,000 have been awarded in teacher grants through 2007.

The goals of this grant proposal include:

Provide scholarship opportunities for community patrons (working and or single mothers) to attend a higher education facility to further their career. Applicants may apply for up to $500 and may re-apply for 4 years.

Provide funding allowing more individuals to reach their career goals which in turn will benefit the Western Boone Community.

How this Project will Benefit the Community:

"ยขThe increasing cost of college may burden individuals from attaining their goals of receiving a higher educational degree. The funds from this grant will allow the WBEF endowment to grow so that each year, the scholarship committee will be able to select individuals for this scholarship. In turn these patrons will perhaps use their skills in our community and continue to live in our community.

Why Make a Donation?

Help out our students

Local tax dollars provide 22% of the funds for existing educational programs in the Western Boone schools.  WBEF will provide much needed additional resources to give our children the best possible education for years to come.

How Does It Work?

WBEF grants will focus on the following:

  • Activities to increase academic, arts, and vocational achievement.
  • Special opportunities to educate staff members.

Those who apply for grants will be required to outline all details of the project they wish to have funded.  The WBEF board will review every application , insuring that funded projects are within the policies of the school corporation, are consistent with the goals of the WBEF, and are beneficial to the students and/or staff involved.  WBEF will only fund projects within its financial abilities, so it will remain a viable, long-term foundation, serving our community.
